Academic Developments
- Various teaching aids viz., digitized class notes, power point presentations, video clips related to pest management, insect collection, blow-ups etc., have been developed for Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Ph. D courses.
- Department has all the basic and advanced infrastructure facility such as walk in growth chamber, tethered flight mill system, Open Top Chambers, plant growth chambers, insectarium, stereo-zoom binocular microscopes with image analysing software, Phase contrast microscope, Potters spray tower, Audio-visual aids, computers with internet facility (student network cell) for the benefit of UG, PG and Ph. D teaching and research.
- PG students have excelled in academics with many NET eligibility, 13 national and state fellowships [(DST-INSPIRE (3); KSTePS (2); Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (3); Maulana Azad National Fellowship (2); National Fellowship for OBC (1); IARI Fellowship (2)], 57 ICAR JRF/SRF and 5 ARS scientist in the last five years.
- Many PG students have won coveted honours such as Best thesis, Best oral and poster presentations in national and international Conferences.
- One International and Several National and State awards have been conferred to faculty of Entomology for their contributions in the field of Entomology including ICAR instituted Best Teacher award, Best Research award and Best incentive awards conferred by UAS, Raichur.
- Two faculties namely Dr. A. G. Sreenivas and Dr. Prabhuraj A. have undergone International training on cutting edge technology viz., Climate change and Insect migration at CIMMYT, Mexico and Rothamsted Agricultural Research Station, Harpenden, UK, respectively.
- A. G. Sreenivas, Professor and head recognised as FAO International subject expert and consultant for maize Fall armyworm project.
