Dr. Veeresh A. S,
Scientist, NBAIR, Bengaluru
On 1-3-2021 our Entomology family has lost one of the valuable members Dr. Veeresh. One of the brilliant and budding entomologist Dr. Veeresh passed away after battling lung cancer for the last two years.
Alumni of the College of Agriculture, Raichur during 2006-10, Dr. Veeresh joined UAS, Bengaluru for M.Sc. programme with ICAR-JRF fellowship and completed his Ph.D in the same University. During his Ph.D. programme, he worked on Systematics and pollination potential of megachilids (Leaf cutter) bees under the guidance of Dr. V.V. Belavadi. During his PG programme he was inspirational to many juniors motivating them to get many JRF and SRF fellowships. In his first attempt only, he secured first rank in ARS scientist recruitment and posted at ICAR-Agroforestry Research station Jhansi. He continued his passion for megachilids and got DST young scientist project. Many of his research works including Ph.D. work are published in highly reputed peer reviewed journals. He has also developed many tutorial classes for the benefit of young students and are available in YOUTUBE channel.
With his brilliancy and dedication to the insect world he got selected for FULL BRIGHT FELLOWSHIP and was preparing to leave to North Carolina State University, USA when suddenly was diagnosed with Lung cancer. After the detection, to facilitate good medical treatment, he was transferred to NBAIR, Bengaluru during 2019.
Our Entomology division pay a rich tribute to the departing soul and pray almighty to rest his soul in peace and give strength to his family to bear the loss.
